The versatile herb with complex flavor.

Cilantro
(coriandrum sativum)
Cilantro, Chopped

The coriander plant gives us two spices, coriander and cilantro. Cilantro comes from the leafy portion of the plant, while coriander comes from the seeds. Although they share a common source, you’d never know it from their flavors.

Cilantro has a complex flavor with hints of pepper, sage and lemon. A versatile herb, it’s used in everything from traditional Indian curries and Asian stir-fries to Mexican salsas.

Like many herbs, cilantro’s flavor diminishes the longer it’s exposed to heat. So be sure to add it at the end of cooking.

Fun Fact: The love it or hate it debate around cilantro has been going on for centuries. The 16th century herbalist Gerard described it as a “very stinking herbe.” While the Chinese referred to it as the “fragrant plant.”

Our Cilantro is only cilantro. Spice Islands® spices and herbs don’t contain added sugar, fillers or other ingredients so you get the most authentic flavor every time.
