We source our Spice Islands® celery seeds from India, where growers harvest the seeds in the second year after planting.
Whole celery seeds maintain their volatile oils much longer than ground seeds. Because of this, many cooks prefer to use whole seeds in their recipes. But given their strong flavor, whole celery seeds should be used sparingly.
Fun Fact: Celery seeds were once considered an aphrodisiac by Ancient Greeks and Romans. Today, the most romance they see is in a potato salad at a picnic.
Our Whole Celery Seed is only celery seed. Spice Islands® spices and herbs don’t contain added sugar, fillers or other ingredients so you get the most authentic flavor every time.
