Stuffed Chocolate Hazelnut French Toast

4 stuffed slices


2 eggs

1/2 cup milk

1 tablespoon sugar

1-1/2 teaspoons Spice Islands® Pure Almond Extract

1/2 teaspoon Spice Islands® Ground Saigon Cinnamon

8 slices good quality, firm, white bread

1/2 cup chocolate hazelnut spread

1 tablespoon butter OR margarine


Whisk eggs, milk, sugar, almond extract and cinnamon in a medium bowl.

Spread 4 slices of bread with chocolate hazelnut spread.  Top each with a second slice of bread.

Melt butter in skillet over medium-high heat. Dip stuffed bread slices in egg mixture.  Cook until browned, 3 to 4 minutes; turn and cook additional 3 to 4 minutes. If desired, sprinkle with powdered sugar and top with fresh fruit.
