Native to Asia and northern Europe, the caraway plant is one of the oldest members of the parsley family and has been used for a variety of purposes since 3000 BC.
The seed of the plant is split into two halves that form a curved shape with tapered ends and has a warm, bittersweet taste. Caraway pairs well with sauerkraut, sausage, cheese, cabbage and soups.
