Even though its name implies a blend of spices, allspice is actually one spice that comes from a berry.
Allspice has a sweet taste that’s reminiscent of a number of different spices, including cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg. Because of its sweetness, it’s commonly used in baked goods like spice cakes, dessert breads and cookies. Its also the primary flavor in Jamaican jerk seasoning.
While many chefs prefer using the whole spice, ground allspice is the easiest form to use and gives a subtle yet warm flavor to a variety of baked goods.
Our Spice Islands® ground allspice is sourced from Guatemala and Honduras.
Our Ground Allspice is only allspice. Spice Islands® spices and herbs don’t contain added sugar, fillers or other ingredients so you get the most authentic flavor every time.
