As you might suspect from its name, allspice has a sweet taste thats reminiscent of a number of different spices, including cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg. Because of its sweetness, its commonly used in baked goods like spice cakes, dessert breads and cookies. Its also the primary flavor in Jamaican jerk seasoning. In fact, much of our Spice Islands® whole allspice comes from Jamaica.
Many chefs prefer whole allspice because of the more intense flavor and aroma you get by crushing or grinding it just prior to use.
Our Whole Allspice is only allspice. Spice Islands® spices and herbs dont contain added sugar, fillers or other ingredients so you get the most authentic flavor every time.
