Ingredients
Cake
- 2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cup sugar
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup butter OR margarine
- 1 cup water
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 tsp Spice Islands Lemon Peel
- 1 tsp Spice Islands Pure Vanilla Extract
- 1/2 tsp Spice Islands Pure Lemon Extract
Icing
- 1/2 cup butter OR margarine
- 1/4 cup milk
- 4-1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp Spice Islands Pure Lemon Extract
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Combine flour, sugar, baking soda and salt in a large bowl and mix well. Bring butter and water to a boil in a large saucepan. Remove from heat and pour over flour mixture. Stir in eggs, sour cream, lemon peel, vanilla extract and lemon extract.
- Pour into a greased 15 x 10-inch pan. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until cake is golden brown.
- For icing, combine butter and milk in a saucepan; bring to a boil. Remove from heat and add powdered sugar and lemon extract. Beat until smooth. Pour over hot cake.
- Cool and cut into bars.
